Coding for Climate Champions Program

The Forward Educators: Coding for Climate Champions Program is a supportive network of like-minded individuals who inspire change and learn from one another. As a Champion, you'll connect with the Forward Education team and passionate educators worldwide, sharing ideas and experiences, contributing to future lessons, and collaborating on innovative ways to bring the Climate Action Kit and real-world opportunities to the classroom.

Our goal is to engage more educators and learners in STEM and coding, making it accessible, relatable, and important for the next generation, ultimately inspiring creative thinkers with purpose-driven coding and robotics to build a better future.

Who should be a Coding for Climate Champion?

A Coding for Climate Champion helps remove barriers to learning digital skills by integrating project-based, real-world climate action coding & robotics into the classroom.

Coding for Climate Champions are thought leaders in STEM, coding, robotics, and have a passion for sustainability, teaching SDGs, and making a positive impact.
Champions build and support communities of educators and enthusiasts who are passionate about using technology to create a sustainable future.
Coding for Climate Champions align with our values and mission to inspire educators and students with purpose-driven STEM that helps build a better future for us all.

Who should apply?

Coding for Climate Champions are primarily STEM teachers and district leaders. You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have experience using coding and robotics to inspire and engage others.
  • Have the passion and drive to spread the use of technology for climate action in your community and beyond.
  • Can follow Forward Education's Code of Conduct and represent the organization in your community.
  • Are willing to present at conferences, run workshops, or deliver training on coding and climate action.
  • Are already, or are willing to become, a key influencer in your local community for physical computing, coding, and environmental sustainability.
What do Champions do?
  • Attend an Orientation: Meet other Forward Educators: Coding for Climate Champions.
  • Attend Global Meetups: Participate in virtual meetups with a global community of educators.
  • Attend Regional Meetups: Join local or regional meetups to collaborate and share ideas.
  • Host or Contribute to Workshops and Events: Organize or assist with at least 3 workshops, presentations, or events focused on coding for climate action between September 2024 and August 2025.
  • Report Activities: Provide quarterly reports on your activities related to the program.
  • Participate in Surveys: Share your feedback and experiences through regular surveys.
  • Provide insights: Participate in product feedback sessions and collaborate with our Learning Experience Designers on new lesson plans and workshop ideas.
  • Be a Thought Leader: Share your enthusiasm and knowledge of Coding for Climate bi-weekly with your community on social media.
Do I pay to be a Champion?

No, the Coding for Climate Champions Program is free for applicants and selected Champions.

What is the application process like?

First step: Fill out the application form

Second step: Our team reviews your application. Selected applicants will be notified via email to schedule a virtual interview.

Third Step: Have a 30-minute virtual interview with our #Coding4Climate Champions Team

Last Step: If you are selected to be a Coding for Climate Champion, our team will contact you via email and send you your Welcome Package!
