Product details

The Coding for Good Kit is the successor to the popular Climate Action Kit first released in 2022. The new Coding for Good Kit is built on the same micro:bit powered hardware, building blocks, and learning platform, but now features a series of new sensors and parts that unlock new project and coding possibilities.

Like the Climate Action Kit, it is an open-ended toolkit with lessons and projects that align with State Standards across settings, subjects, and grade levels. But, with more building blocks and new smart modules, motors, and AI-ready sensors, it expands our plug-and-play ecosystem to address a wider range of global challenges from climate and conservation to health, safety, accessibility, and community innovation. Plus, with built-in pathways to train and use AI models, projects behave even more like the technologies shaping our world and keep pace with the rapid pace of innovation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Missing something? Please contact our team with any additional questions you may have.

What is the different between the Coding for Good Kit and the Climate Action Kit?

The Climate Action Kit was originally released in 2022. Since then, Forward Education has developed a range of new robotic component and sensors. The Coding for Good Kit is the newest iteration of our flagship Coding & Robotics kit and contains all of the new sensors and parts available within our hardware ecosystem.

What does this mean for the Climate Action Kit?

The Coding for Good Kit is built with all of the same hardware and technology as the original Climate Action Kit. That means that the Coding for Good Kit is backwards compatible with all of the parts and content included with the Climate Action Kit.

The Climate Action Kit will continue to be supported and you can find all of the available content for both version of the kit on our learning platform: learn.forwardedu.com.

Do I need a micro:bit to use the Coding for Good Kit?

Yes! The micro:bit acts as the brain of all the robotic projects created with the Coding for Good Kit. At least one micro:bit is required per kit. Coding for Good Kits can be purchased with or without micro:bits.

Please note, a version 2 micro:bit is required.

How many kits do I need for my classroom?

We generally recommend a ratio of 1:1 or 2:1 for kits to students.

Alternatively, if you have additional micro:bits, each student can code their own micro:bit and simply swap out the micro:bit on the Breakout Board's edge connector to each test their project code.

What grades can the Coding for Good Kit be used with?

The Coding for Good Kit is designed to be used with students in grades 3 to 12. The online learning platform contains a variety of projects and lessons designed for each grade.

What does the Coding for Good Kit come with?

The Coding for Good Kit comes with all of the robotic hardware including sensors, motors, and building blocks to complete a variety of coding projects.

The kit also includes access to our online learning portal where educators and students can access step-by-step building & coding tutorials.

What content is included with the Coding for Good Kit?

You can view our full Lesson Library by visiting our Learning Platform. The Coding for Good Kit includes access to all of the available lessons and project content on the Learning Platform.
