Who Can Apply?

This grant is exclusively for current and past micro:bit Champions — educators, trainers, and community leaders recognized by the Micro:bit Educational Foundation for their work advancing physical computing. If you hold or have held the Champion designation and want to bring AI literacy to your network, we'd love to hear from you.

What is MicroChat?

MicroChat is Forward Education's micro:bit-native AI literacy software that lets students interact with a large language model directly through the micro:bit. It's designed to make AI concepts tangible and accessible for K-12 learners without requiring expensive hardware or complex setup.

Do I need to be a verified micro:bit Champion?

Yes. This grant is exclusively for educators who hold the official micro:bit Champion designation from the Micro:bit Educational Foundation. If you're interested in becoming a Champion, visit microbit.org/champions to learn more about the program.

How much is the MicroChat license worth?

Each MicroChat site license is valued at $200 USD. The number of licenses granted depends on the scope of your workshop and the number of educators you plan to reach. Our team will work with you during the review process to determine the right allocation.

I'm outside the United States — can I still apply?

Absolutely. micro:bit Champions are a global community and this grant is open to Champions worldwide. Just select your country in the application form and we'll work with you regardless of location.
