What is a micro:bit?

micro:bit is a pocket-sized programmable device designed to introduce students to coding in a fun, hands-on way. With over 200 official lessons, countless community-created tutorials, and students’ own imaginations, learners of all coding skill levels have endless opportunities to learn to code and practice their skills.

What is CHARGE for micro:bit?

CHARGE for micro:bit is a rechargeable and wearable power pack accessory that powers micro:bit when it is not plugged into a computer. It enables a wider variety of portable lessons such as citizen science, activity tracking, and nature studies without requiring the consumption of disposable batteries.

What micro:bit versions are compatible with CHARGE for micro:bit?

CHARGE is compatible with both V1 and V2 versions of micro:bit.

However please note that there are slight hardware differences between V1 and V2 micro:bits because of new features on V2 (onboard speaker) - these differences can lead to a slightly different fit with the snap-fit enclosure of CHARGE.

How is CHARGE for micro:bit different than the Go pack?

CHARGE for micro:bit differs from the Go Pack in several key ways: CHARGE features a rechargeable battery, while the Go requires two AAA batteries. When micro:bit is connected to CHARGE, it forms a compact, one-piece design, unlike the Go's two-piece setup. Additionally, CHARGE includes an integrated wrist strap for portable, hands-free lessons, which the Go lacks. Contact us for other key differences.

How many batteries does CHARGE for micro:bit save from landfills?

CHARGE for micro:bit is a rechargeable power pack, which avoids adding tens of thousands of batteries to the landfill for the average school district. A district with 25 schools, each with a class set of 20 micro:bits and Go packs, spends over $5,000 annually on batteries and sends 18,000 batteries into landfills every year.

Can micro:bit be removed from CHARGE?

Yes. CHARGE's snap-fit micro:bit slot allows micro:bit to be easily snapped into and out of CHARGE.

Is CHARGE available for international shipping?

Yes.Contact Us to be connected with an international reseller of CHARGE for micro:bit.

Can I use CHARGE with the Climate Action Kit?

Yes. CHARGE for micro:bit is designed with compatible building block connections for the Climate Action Kit and LEGO building blocks.
