Eligibility

Texas teachers who hold a current teaching certificate in a subject other than computer science or technology applications are eligible to apply. Teachers must be enrolled in or have completed the WeTeach_CS Cert Prep Open Plan or a Certification Hub. Educators who earn the TExES 241 (CS 8-12) or TExES 242 (EC-12 Technology Applications) certification while participating in the program qualify for stipend payment.

The WeTeach_CS Certification Incentive Program (CIP) is run by the University of Texas at Austin's Texas Advanced Computing Center. It supports Texas teachers in earning computer science and technology applications certification by providing financial incentives and free preparation resources. The goal is to expand the number of qualified CS educators in Texas high schools, especially in rural and underserved communities.
