Eligibility
Washington public schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families automatically receive Title I funds through their district. Schools are ranked and funded based on poverty data.
Program Goals
Title I Part A provides annual federal funding to schools serving students from low-income families. The goal is to close academic achievement gaps by providing additional resources for instruction, intervention, and academic support. Schools can use Title I funds for curriculum, materials, technology, and tutoring aligned to student academic needs.

No competitive application is required. OSPI allocates Title I funds to Washington districts based on federal formulas. Districts distribute funds to eligible schools. Contact your district Title I coordinator to learn what your school receives and what purchases are allowable.

Does my school automatically get Title I funds?
Schools do not all get Title I. Districts rank schools by poverty concentration and allocate funds to the highest-need schools. Contact your district to find out if your school is Title I eligible.
Can Title I pay for STEM kits?
