Eligibility

Wisconsin public school districts and postsecondary institutions operating approved CTE programs. Formula funds flow to eligible recipients based on enrollment and need data — no competitive application required for formula allocations.

Program Goals

The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) provides federal formula funding to improve CTE programs across Wisconsin. Funds support program improvement, equipment modernization, professional development, work-based learning, and expanding access to high-quality CTE pathways in technology, manufacturing, health, and other high-demand sectors.

Application

Districts do not apply competitively for formula funds. WI DPI distributes Perkins V allocations based on a federal formula using enrollment and concentration of poverty data. Districts submit a local application (local plan) to DPI describing how they will use their allocation. Contact your district's CTE director to access your allocation.

Cycle Notes

Annual federal allocation cycle. Wisconsin DPI typically finalizes local allocations in spring or early summer. Districts have until the end of the grant period (usually September 30) to obligate funds. Unexpended funds may require return.

Award Amount

Formula-based. Allocation varies by district size and demographics. Larger districts with higher poverty concentrations receive larger allocations. Contact your district CTE director or WI DPI for your district's specific amount.
