The Smart Soldering Kit is the perfect way to introduce new learners to the skill of soldering! Plus, once finished, the Traffic Light component is compatible with the rest of the micro:bit powered coding & robotics products from Forward Education, like the Climate Action Kit. This means that learners can both build and solder their own functioning robotic component, as well as actually program the component using a micro:bit and MakeCode!
The Smart Soldering Kit comes with all of the components that are to be soldered onto the board which consists of buttons, resistors, lights, and a battery holder. Materials and tools to actually solder the board are not included.
A Forward Education Breakout Board, cable connector, and V2 micro:bit (available separately) are required to actually complete any coding projects with the component.

How it Works
A V2 micro:bit, Forward Education Breakout Board and connector cable are required to complete coding of the Smart Soldering Kit component.
Intro to Soldering
Discover the world of electronics and soldering by adding each of the various resistor, LED, and button components to your PCB board.
Complete Soldering
Complete all of the electronic circuits on the board by soldering the leads of each component. Use the included battery to ensure all the circuits work!
Add to Robotic Project
Hook up your newly assembled component to any of the other robotic pieces in the Forward EDU hardware ecosystem. (Sold separately)
Code Component
Using a micro:bit, Breakout Board, and the Forward EDU extension in MakeCode, you can code your component to perform all sorts of functions!

What tools are required for the Smart Soldering Kit?
To use the Smart Soldering Kit you will need to have a soldering gun and led-free solder. These are not included with the kit. You may also want to use safety googles and a silicone mat for extra protection.
How do I code the Smart Soldering Kit component?
To code the Smart Soldering Kit component, you will need to have a Breakout Board from Forward Education, a cable connector, and a V2 micro:bit. You can find all of these components in the Climate Action Kit. If you don't have these components already, you can purchase them individually here: https://forwardedu.com/collections/robotic-components
Do I have to code the component?
No! The Smart Soldering Kit can make a great introduction to soldering on it's own. Coding the component with micro:bit is a totally optional step and requires additional hardware pieces.

Order Processing Times
Orders are typically processed within 1-2 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after your order has been placed. You will receive a confirmation email once your order has shipped.
Pre-Ordered Items
Please note that if an item is designated as a 'Pre-Order' at the time of purchase, the order will not be fulfilled until the product is available. Please refer to the original pre-order timeline indicated on the product listing for approximate order processing time.
Please also be aware that if an order contains both pre-ordered and in-stock items, the entire order will not be fulfilled until all the products are available. If this is an issue, please contact our team.

Order Tracking
Once your order has shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email containing tracking information. Track your package using the provided link or by visiting the carrier’s website.
Undeliverable Packages
If a package is returned to us due to an incorrect address or other delivery issues, you will be notified and may need to confirm your shipping details for a re-delivery. Additional shipping fees may apply for reshipments.

Returns Policy
Returns
- Eligibility: To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused, in its original condition, and in the original packaging. Returns must be initiated within 30 days of the delivery date.
- How to Initiate a Return: To start a return, please contact our customer support team by submitting a ticket here with your order number and a brief description of the issue. We will provide further instructions on how to proceed.
Refunds
- Processing: Once your returned item is received and inspected, we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If approved, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment. Please allow 5-10 business days for the refund to appear, depending on your financial institution.
- Shipping Costs: Shipping costs for the original order are non-refundable. If a return is due to a defect or error on our part, we will cover the return shipping costs.
Damaged or Defective Items
- If your item arrives damaged or defective, please notify us within 7 days of delivery with photos of the damaged product and packaging. We will arrange for a replacement or refund as quickly as possible.
Return Shipping
- Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to a defect, damage, or an error on our part. We recommend using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance, as we cannot guarantee receipt of returned items.
