Perkins V Career-Technical Education Funds (Ohio)
Eligibility
Ohio public school districts and public postsecondary institutions with approved CTE programs receive Perkins V formula funds. Funds are distributed through Ohio's CTE Planning Districts. All eligible LEAs receive formula allocations based on enrollment and program data.
Program Goals
Ohio receives federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act (Perkins V) funds annually, which flow to local CTE programs through Ohio's CTE Planning District structure. Formula funds support CTE program development, equipment purchases, professional development, and work-based learning activities at Ohio secondary schools and community colleges. Unlike competitive grants, all eligible districts receive allocations.
Read the GrantApplication and Distribution
Perkins V funds are not competitively applied for — they are distributed by formula to eligible LEAs through CTE Planning Districts. Districts work with their planning district coordinator to develop annual CTE plans and allocate funds. Contact your district's CTE director or planning district to learn how Perkins funds flow in your area.
Cycle Notes
Perkins V is an annual formula program. Local CTE plans for FY2026 were due in spring 2026. For FY2027, contact your CTE planning district coordinator to understand the local planning and spending timeline. Visit education.ohio.gov for Perkins V guidance documents.
Grant Award Amount
Individual district allocations vary by CTE enrollment and program data. Statewide Ohio Perkins V allocations are several hundred million dollars annually distributed across secondary and postsecondary CTE programs.
