About This Grant
NOAA B-WET (Bay Watershed Education and Training) funds Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) for K-12 students. MWEEs are structured outdoor learning experiences where students investigate local watershed issues, take action, and reflect on their learning. The program operates regionally, and Minnesota's connection to the Great Lakes watershed makes it an eligible region.
B-WET grants support multi-day field experiences, data collection along waterways, schoolyard watershed restoration, and STEM-integrated water science curriculum. Projects must include all four components of a MWEE: issue definition, outdoor investigation, synthesis and conclusions, and environmental action.
Applications are reviewed annually by NOAA regional offices. Check the B-WET website for current solicitations in the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest region.
