FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) offers team grants of $500-$5,000 to help K-12 robotics teams cover registration fees, equipment, and competition costs. Colorado schools with FIRST teams can access these grants on an ongoing basis.
What This Grant Funds
Team grants cover FIRST program registration fees, robot parts and materials, mentor training, and competition travel. Grants are available for FIRST LEGO League (FLL), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams.
Who Can Apply
Registered FIRST teams at the K-12 level are eligible. Teams must be active in a FIRST program and be able to demonstrate financial need. Coaches and mentors apply on behalf of the student team.
How to Apply
Visit the FIRST team grant opportunities page to see current sponsors and application requirements. Each sponsor has different eligibility criteria and application processes. Check early in the season (fall) as many grants have limited funding and are awarded on a first-come basis.
