Projects must focus on economic development, workforce training, or education programs that benefit North Carolina's rural communities. Program Goals

The Golden LEAF Foundation was established using funds from North Carolina's tobacco settlement to invest in economic transformation for rural NC communities. The Open Grants Program funds workforce development, education, and economic opportunity programs with demonstrated impact in rural and tobacco-dependent counties. Education grants support CTE programs, STEM initiatives, and workforce pathway development that build skills for in-demand jobs in North Carolina.
