About This Grant
Title I Part A is the federal government's largest K-12 education formula grant. Funds flow every year to Minnesota school districts based on the number of students from low-income families. Districts with the highest poverty concentrations receive the most funding. Title I funds are managed at the district level.
Title I funds are flexible and can support a wide range of programs that improve academic achievement in high-poverty schools. This includes STEM curriculum, classroom technology, tutoring, extended learning time, and professional development for teachers. Schools must demonstrate that Title I expenditures supplement -- not replace -- state and local spending.
