About This Grant
The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act provides formula funding to every state for Career and Technical Education programs. Minnesota receives its Perkins V allocation annually and distributes it through 23 regional CTE consortia. Each consortium manages Perkins funds for a group of school districts in its region.
Perkins V is one of the most reliable and flexible federal funding sources for CTE programs in Minnesota. Eligible expenses include equipment, curriculum, professional development, and supplies for approved CTE pathways. Computer science, coding, robotics, engineering technology, and clean energy are all recognized pathways.
Schools access Perkins V funds by working with their regional CTE consortium coordinator. The coordinator helps districts identify eligible expenses and include them in the local CTE plan. There is no competitive application -- funds are formula-based and distributed annually.
