List Recognizes Tech Breakthroughs Across Industries That Promise to Transform the Future
Waterloo, Ontario, November 28, 2023 —Forward Education, the Canadian edtech company behind the Climate Action Kit, today announced that it has been named to Fast Company’s third annual Next Big Things in Tech list, honouring technology breakthroughs that promise to shape the future of industries—from healthcare and security to artificial intelligence and data.
This year, 119 technologies developed by established companies, startups, or research teams are highlighted for their cutting-edge advancements and potential to impact consumers, businesses, and society overall. While not all of the technological developments are available in the market yet, each one is reaching key milestones in order to have a proven impact in the next five years.
Forward Education’s Climate Action Kits make the process of teaching and learning coding easy, exciting and purposeful for students and teachers alike. Using the online interactive lessons, students are introduced to a variety of climate change issues and their technological solutions. Students then use the kit’s hardware, building blocks, and physical computing components to code and build their own working prototypes by following step-by-step coding tutorials. These projects can be as simple as creating a windmill for renewable energy or as challenging as building an automated tree seeding vehicle to combat deforestation.
“Our commitment to innovative and future-focused educational solutions is at the core of our mission. The recognition by Fast Company is a testament to the impact of our Climate Action Kit, empowering the next generation to not only learn coding but also contribute to meaningful solutions for global challenges” says Jessica Braun, Head of Product and Design at Forward Education. “We are excited to be at the forefront of educational technology, inspiring students and educators alike.”
“The Next Big Things in Tech is not just a look around the corner—it’s a look around the corner after that,” says Brendan Vaughan, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “These are the products and ideas that will define technological innovation for the rest of this decade and beyond—and solve some of the world’s most pressing issues. We are thrilled to honor the organizations that are making them a reality.”
